About Holland Capital
About Holland Capital Management
An independent fiduciary firm led by M. Chad Holland, CFA, CFP®. You work with him directly, from the first conversation through every decision that follows.
Connected decisions
Why Work With One Advisor?
Financial decisions rarely happen one at a time. A retirement decision can affect your investments, taxes, insurance and estate plan.
At many firms, financial planning, investments and tax questions are handled by different people. Each one may do good work. But decisions that affect each other end up being made separately, and you become the person connecting them.
Holland Capital was built so one advisor is responsible for seeing how the major decisions fit together. Your financial plan and investment strategy are considered together, along with the tax effects of major decisions.
Who you work with
Who Will I Actually Work With?
You work directly with M. Chad Holland, CFA, CFP®. He has nearly 30 years in the profession and leads every client relationship himself.
Chad spent much of his career advising clients inside large financial institutions. He built Holland Capital to keep the planning and investment expertise without the institutional constraints. He can choose the resources that fit each client instead of being limited to one firm’s way of doing things.
Chad does the financial planning, designs the portfolio and sets the investment strategy. An independent investment manager handles day to day trading and implementation. When you have a question, you work with him directly.
He also works with your CPA and attorney when a decision touches their work, so you are not passing messages between them.

Who Else Is Involved?
Some parts of the process involve other professionals. Chad coordinates their role so the pieces of your financial life are considered together.
Portfolio management
An independent investment manager handles day to day management and trading. Chad selects the manager, oversees it and can replace it.
Custody
Client accounts are held at Charles Schwab, not at Holland Capital.
Insurance
When insurance is being considered, an insurance specialist can compare options from multiple carriers.
Credentials
What Do CFA and CFP® Mean?
Credentials can help you understand an advisor’s training and professional standards. They do not guarantee good advice. Chad holds both of the credentials below.
CFA
The Chartered Financial Analyst charter is widely recognized as the gold standard in investment management.
Earning it requires passing three levels of rigorous examinations covering investment analysis, valuation, portfolio management, economics, risk, and ethics. Historically, only about one in five candidates who begin the CFA Program ultimately complete it and earn the charter.
Charterholders must also meet professional experience requirements and adhere to CFA Institute’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.
For clients, the distinction matters. The CFA charter represents deep training in analyzing investments, building portfolios, and managing risk.
CFP®
The CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification is awarded by CFP Board. It treats retirement, tax, estate, insurance, investments and cash flow as connected subjects. To earn it, a candidate must:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree and complete CFP Board approved coursework
- Pass the CFP® certification exam
- Complete 6,000 hours of professional experience, or 4,000 hours through an apprenticeship
- Agree to CFP Board’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct, which require acting as a fiduciary when giving financial advice
Certificants also complete continuing education to keep the certification.
How the firm is paid
How Is Holland Capital Paid?
Holland Capital Management is an independent registered investment adviser acting as a fiduciary in every recommendation it makes.
You pay Holland Capital for advice. Ongoing investment management carries an advisory fee based on the assets managed, and the independent investment manager charges its own fee. Planning and focused analysis are quoted as a fixed fee once the scope is clear. The scope and cost are put in writing before you decide. How we work explains each arrangement.
